Health

 Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post. Today I will be sharing with you what I have been doing for health.

In health, we were set a task that required us to research what vaping was and then create an activity based off of it. We chose to create a game based off of the information that we had researched we choose to use the base of the 5 second rule game but make it about vaping. In the end, we didn't get to choose the topic because we were running out of time and decided to stick to the topic we were already learning about.

To start we got into the groups in my group, there was Hayley, Nevaeh, Noah, Ashton, Nici, Zac, and myself. Then we had to talk about the vaping questions on a doc we focused on the fifth question on the doc, the questions altogether were called the 6 Big questions our question was "When and Why did Vaping become an issue in New Zealand?". Once we had our 6 big questions we focused on the strategies to help overcome the question. The group I was in chose to create a game, we decided to do this because we thought that it would increase our communication skills and increase our knowledge  and others of vaping issues .

It was challenging when we were creating the game and having to move the game around to suit our topic. I coped by making sure everyone had something to do and not putting too much pressure on myself. I worked well with my group because we communicated to make sure there weren't going to be any disagreements. Next time I would put more effort into creating the game because the creating was rushed. I am really proud of the outcome of working together because we had everything done reasonably well with the time that was given.

Current Circuit

 Today I will be sharing with you a blog post that shares a circuit that I made based on what we have been doing in Science. This relates to what we have been doing because we are learning about electricity.

here are the parts that are needed in a circuit:

Battery ~ This gives the energy.

Wires ~ Passes the energy through the circuit.

Bulb ~ Takes the energy and creates light.

Switch ~Adjusts the electricity depending on if the switch is open or closed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Current ~ The potential difference between two points in an electric field.
Voltage ~ The cause of the current.
Here is the circuit I made...
Crispy Chicken Tacos
 Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post. For today's blog post I will be sharing with you what I have been doing for Home Economics. So for the practical for Home Economics this week we made Crispy Chicken Tacos. The nutrients contained in this are carbohydrates, protein, fats,  and vitamins.  We were put into groups of either 3 or 4 my group was a group of three and in it was Isaac, Hannah, and myself. I personally think that I work really well with these two and we are always up to date for the next instruction. The food smelt absolutely amazing when we were making it and it tasted even better the different textures of the food being a part of what made it so delicious.
Here is the recipe for the tacos...
T3 Reflection
 Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post. Today I will be reflecting on what has been going on at school because that's what we were asked to do for Wānanga.
Commitment ~ In maths even when the equation was hard I tried my best to solve it.
Achievement ~ It connects with the commitment one, I ended up finding the answer for the difficult equation.
Resilience ~ I was struggling to hit the birdie in sport but I kept trying and ended up hitting it and wasn't a bad sport about it.
Respect ~ When Mr. White was relieving I treated him as I would treat any other teacher which is with respect.
My Arts Kete is going really well I had to choreograph a routine based on rock 'n' roll for it and have successfully done so, there are just a few things that need to be fixed.
I believe that when there are relievers in I can get a bit irresponsible at times but other than that I am respectful and treat them how I would treat my other teachers.
My goal for the last week of term 3 is to get twice as much work done and get it done to a higher standard than it has been.
The Cay ~ Book Review
 Today I will be sharing with you a book review on the book my class has been reading in English. The book's title is The Cay and it is written by Theodore Taylor, the book was published in 1969. The protagonist of the book is Phillip. The Cay is about a boy whose island is under attack so he goes onto a boat to go somewhere that is safe and it gets sunken he then wakes up on a raft with a man named Timothy, goes blind, and isn't fond of the man he is stuck with, but grows to like him. They then end up on an island and have to survive on it.
The rating that I would give the book is 3/5 this is because I have read better books but it was still really well written and contained plenty of detail, another reason why I gave this rating was because of the way that it was written. The age that I would recommend it to is year 9's because some of the words used to describe things need reasonably mature readers.
Static Electricity
 Today I will be answering three questions on my blog they are all about static electricity. The questions are based on what we have been learning about in Physics.
The three particles that make up everything are Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons. Protons have a positive energy charge, Neutrons have a neutral charge, and Electrons have a negative energy charge.
Electrically neutral means that the energy wants to balance out which means that they want an opposite charge.
Insulator ~ An insulator is bad at passing on energy.
Conductor ~ A conductor is good at passing on energy.
An example of static electricity is if you rub a balloon on your head and then slowly lift it and the hair rises as you lift the balloon.
The Cay Poster
 Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post. Today I will be sharing with you a cover that I made for the book the cay. We also had to choose actors to fulfill the roles of the two main characters Timothy and Phillip.
Here is the cover I made...
Here are the actors I chose...
 I couldn't find any suitable actors for the role of Phillip. But I was thinking of Samuel L. Jackson for the role of Timothy, or I think that Morgan Freeman would be a good person to be timothy.
Eyeball Dissection : Recount and Reflection
 Hello fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post. Today I will be sharing with you what we did yesterday in physics.
Recently we have been learning about different parts of the eye. Here are some of the parts we learned about.
Cornea ~ The protective outer layer of the eye.
Pupil ~ The pupil is where the light enters the eye.
Iris ~ Controls how much light enters.
Lens ~ Focuses light onto the retina.
Retina ~ Converts light to electrical impulses.
Optic nerve ~ Carries the impulses to the brain.
Humorous ~ The liquid in the eye that gives it its shape.
Steps
~ To start off the dissection we got given a cow's eye and a scalpel, tweezers, and scissors, and a metal container. We put on gloves and rolled up our sleeves.
~ The next thing we did was cut off the excess muscle and fat.
~ We stabbed the cornea with the scalpel and cut around it with scissors, the humorous leaked out of the eye.
~ After that we were then able to see the lens and a gel-like substance surrounding the lens.
~ One of the people that were in my group flipped the eye inside out revealing the tapetum which helps them to see at night.
Personally, I did not enjoy dissecting the cow's eye but both of my other teammates Nici and Hayley both enjoyed doing the dissection. The only reason did not enjoy doing it was because it was slimy and I didn't want the humorous to go everywhere.
Here is a photo of the eye being dissected.
Q + A
 Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post. Today I will be answering questions about the book that I have been reading for English.
How long have they been on the island?
 They were on the island for 48 days.
What does Phillip do to help Timothy when he is sick?
Puts a wet cloth on his head.
Why is Phillip ready to climb the palm tree?
Because he didn't want to let Timothy down.
Why is Timothy teaching Phillip how to survive?
He is teaching him in case he dies or something happens to him.
What do you think Phillip meant when he asked " are you still black"?
He was asking because he always thought of black people as mean but he was figuring out that timothy was kind.
Home Economics ~ Learning From Home Acitvity
 Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post. For today's blog post I will be sharing with you something I made for dinner about 2 days ago. The dish was called Chermoula Chicken Tacos this was one of the hello fresh meals that I made.
The Ingredients used were :
Red Onion, Garlic, Green beans, Carrot, Lettuce, Chicken breast, Chermoula Spice blend, Greek-style yoghurt, Dill and Parsley mayonnaise, Tortillas, and parsley.
The equipment used was:
Large frying pan, cutting boards, 3 bowls, and a knife.
The finished product tasted really good and the different textures in the taco made the experience even better from the crunchy green beans to the soft tortillas. In the process of making this meal, all the different smells made me very hungry.
Unfortunately, I was unable to take photos but here is what the finished product roughly looked like.
