P.E Hurumanu

Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post. For today's blog post I will be talking about what we have been doing for PE hurumanu. We had three things to do today. The first thing we had to do was take our resting heart rate. A resting heart rate is when you take your pulse while sitting down. You cannot take your resting heart rate once you have done exercise.

The second thing we had to do was take the agility test. We were given a picture on how to do the agility test and our teacher told us how to set it up. This is the picture that was given to us...

The third thing we had to do was the 30 metre sprint, we went onto the tennis court and got ready to do the sprint in my group we had Jessica and well me. For this task one of us had to have a stop watch open on our chrome book and the other had to get ready to sprint. The person with the chrome book would go to the opposite end of the court. The person who was running would stay were they were. When the teacher said go the people that were doing the 30 metre sprint would run and the person with the stop watch would start the timer as soon as the sprinter got to were the person with the stopwatch was they would stop it and give the sprinter their time.

My resting heart rate was 80. The time it took me to complete the agility test was 16.3 seconds. Last of all the 30 metre sprint took me 17 seconds to complete.

The reason why we are learning this is to see if what they are teaching us is improving what we are doing.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post.

Reading Week 7

Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post. For today's blog post I will be answering questions based off of the story I have been reading called "Badge Of Honour".

What is the problem in the story?
There are four school captains Fai, Isaac,Tomasi and Jess and after school Tomasi fight's people and Isaac doesn't know whether to tell the teacher or be a loyal friend and different people are pressuring him to do different things.

What lesson does this story teach?
To always do the right thing even if there is a possibility no one will find out. There is also another lesson to do what you think is right not what someone else thinks is right.

What lesson did the character learn?
Fai learnt to always do the right thing were Tomasi might or might not have learnt to do the right thing. Isaac also learnt to do the right thing but since we didn't get to see his answer I have limited things I can say. Jess wasn't a big part of the story she barely was there so I really don't know what Jess learnt.

Do you connect with any of the characters?
Yes, Because when I was younger I remember being put in a situation like the situation Isaac is in, the two options were to defend my friend and lie and say she didn't do anything or tell the teacher the truth and possibly lose a close friend. In what way ?
As I said in answering the other question I had to choose between my friend or the teacher and I was torn I didn't know what to do.

For the next task I was given an option of what to do I chose to rank the story from 1-5 5 being the story was amazing I would change nothing in it to 1 being it was horrible I hated it.

I gave the story Badge Of Honour a solid three because I hated that it didn't tell you what he did like if he chose his friend or telling the truth and I hated that part because it limited my answers to some of the question for instance the question were it asks what lesson did the character learn.

Badge Of Hounor

Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post. Today's blog post is going to be about what we have been doing for reading and doing activities that revolve around the story we read. The task that I will be doing is asking five questions based off of the story to test if the person has actually read the story. Here are the questions.......

What does Tomasi end up doing ?

Did Fai want Isaac to tell the teacher or cover for his friend ?

Is Tomasi the good or bad friend ?

What happened at the end of the story ?

Why did Tomasi leave Isaac ?

Do you think these are good questions ??

Haiku

Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post in this blog post I am going to be writing a haiku poem. A haiku poem is a traditional Japanese poem which use to have to be about nature but know it has a variety of topics it can be about.

Here is my haiku poem.....

The water shined gracefully
It looked like it was dancing
It then disappeared.

I hope you enjoyed and liked reading my poem.

Badge Of Honour

Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post today's blog post is going to be about the story I have read called "Badge Of Honour". For this task we were asked to answer questions based off of the story we had read.

Describe Isaac's personality.
Isaac is really down to earth and doesn't like lying to people but at the same time he is trying to make sure his friends don't get into trouble, to the point where he might lie to people to protect his friends.

Who are the school captains and how do they feel about the role ?
The female school captains are Fai Tuima and Jess Hutton where as the male school captains are Tomasi Tesi and Isaac Lauofo. I am guessing that they feel very proud of themselves for achieving such things and they are feeling excited for what is to come, at least some of them feel that way other's feel that they are going to be given to many tasks and that they will constantly be buried in responsibilities.

What impression does the author want to give off of Tomasi ?
The author was trying to make Tomasi seem like a bad kid who get's in trouble and also trys to drag his friend/s down with him to support my idea at the end of the story Tomasi asks Isaac to lie for him to get himself out of trouble.

How does Fai feel about Tomasi ?
She doesn't like him because as I said in the last questions answer hes a bad guy and Fai is very good and tries to always do the right thing in the text she basically said that she didn't care about Tomasi when she said something along the lines of "The teacher needs to know I don't care about his consequence".

What impression does the author want to give off Fai ?
The author wants to give off the impression that Fai is a good girl that she never does anything bad and shes very responsible with what she does.

What advice would you give Isaac ? Why ?
I would tell him that he should follow his gut no matter what the teachers want to hear do what is right, and do it because you feel you need to.

Samoa

Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post. For today's task we were asked to answer questions that were given to us and also make a poster of all the Samoan we know.

Here is my poster....

Why do you think it is important to learn about other cultures in New Zealand ?
I think it is important to learn about other cultures because it shows respect to the people that are from that culture.

Is there something we could do differently to learn more or celebrate other cultures ? give examples.
No, I think we learn about each culture a fair amount and I don't think we need to learn anymore about them that we already do.

Keeping our stories alive

Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post. For today's task we were asked to read a story and write a paragraph about what the story was about.

The story keeping our stories alive is about a young female who loves art but also loves her culture so she started putting two and two together and started drawing Samoan designs then her family encouraged her to start tattooing, she then used her father as her guinea pig and she would start practicing on him. When she got clients she would get them to talk about their past and about what they want there tattoo to represent, she then translates their story and culture into a tattoo.

Have you ever read this story ?
