Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome to another blog post today's blog post is going to be about how to preserve food. For the past two lessons on science we have been making D.L.O's about different ways to preserve food. I was partnered with Felicity and here is our work...
Hope you enjoyed this blog post.
I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 8 and in 2021 I will be a year 9. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Science Word Bank
Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome to another blog post about science today we watched a video and learnt about some words. Our task for today was to make a word bank in your book. Then make a D.L.O out of that word bank this is my work.
Do you understand the definitions ??
Bio poem
For the past few days we have been making Bio poems for Wananga. The Bio poem was all about you and your family. Mine is on slide 10.

Who are we Hurumanu
Hello fellow readers and welcome to another blog post. Today we will be talking about Maori history. Today in class we were learning about Maori history.
Maori originated from Hawaiki and they came to New Zealand in Waka and fought Moriori taking over the land. The Maori brought with them Dogs, Rats, Crops, Kumara and Taro.
The South Island was too cold to grow crops so most Maori moved to North Island. They got most of there food from the sea. Scientists have recently discovered that Moriori and Maori share the same D.N.A.
The Moa became extinct because of the rats and the dogs eating their eggs and the Maori people hunting them. The Maori grouped themselves and created different tribes.
The leaders, chiefs, lords, kings were called rangitira. They looked after the people and protected the land.

Hello fellow readers and welcome to another blog post today I will be talking about mars. Today for Science me and my friend Felicity found 8 facts about mars and put it on a D.L.O here is our D.L.O..
Our teacher gave us some more questions to answer so here they are.
Why can't you start fire on Mars?? Because there is no Oxygen on Mars.
Why is Mars so cold?? Because there is no Oxygen there is only Carbon Dioxide and Carbon Dioxide is warm.
How long would it take to send a radio message to Mars?? 13 minutes
Was there ever any water on Mars ?? Yes.

Science - The Martian Recount
Kia Ora fellow readers and welcome back to another blog post, for the past three lessons of science we have been watching a movie called "The Martian".
Before we started to watch the movie we had to predict what was going to happen based off of the movie cover, I predicted that there would be a man who travels to mars and gets stuck there because of a storm, surprisingly this prediction did come true.
10 minutes into the movie the teacher paused it and we wrote in our books the characters, the setting and three of the details. Once we had wrote down those three things we continued watching the movie and found out that his team had to leave him in the storm. He ended up being stranded on Mars and used the necessities he had left to survive.
He grabbed his poop and made fertiliser out of it and planted potatoes to make more potatoes and it was successful. NASA thought that he was dead but soon found out that he was alive after multiple attempts they found a way to communicate with each other.
He found a way that might help with him getting home he had to travel 150km but to save fuel he had to turn heating off but doing that would make him freeze to death so he picked up a nuclear bomb and put it in the rover because it was radiating heat. This plan was unsuccessful.
They tried a couple of times to get more food to him because he was running out and the first one was unsuccessful the second time they tried another plan that would get him home and get him food and it was successful.
In the end he managed to get home and no one got hurt in the process and he ended up teaching young students about mars and how to survive.
